Villers Bocage 14 June 1944
Bourgebous Ridge 18 - 23 July 1944

 

This was an Armoured Division, the famous 'Desert Rats', who had fought in North Africa and Tunis from 1940 to 1943, and the Italy. It returned to England to be ready for D Day, and units from the division began to land in Normandy on 8th June 1944. The Divisional Commander was Major General G.W.E.J. Erskine until 4th August, when Major General G.L.Verney took command.
